Family Court Jurisdictions By Town (Lower Fairfield County, CT)

Divorce and family matters in lower Fairfield County are heard at one of three courthouse covering three Superior Court Judicial Districts. These matters are heard by judges in the Family Division of the Connecticut Superior Court.

The three (3) locations are:

Bridgeport Superior Courthouse – (The Fairfield Judicial District)

Danbury Superior Courthouse – (The Danbury Judicial District)

Stamford Courthouse – (The Stamford-Norwalk Judicial District)

High conflict custody and relocation cases are generally, but not always referred to the Middlesex Superior Courthouse (The Middlesex Judicial District) located in Middletown, CT.

Family Services addresses all divorce and family law related matters including: child custody, child access, financial matters, property disputes, and Temporary Restraining Orders. This is executed across a wide range of Alternative Dispute Resolution processes & services, such as Pre-trial Settlement Negotiation, Conciliation, Mediation, and Conflict Resolution Conferences. Family Services also conducts issue focused evaluations (e.g. child custody evaluations). They also design model parenting plans and make recommendations to both parents and the court to promote dispute resolution and settlement. Family Services also coordinates third party services like supervised visitation, parenting transitions, and compliance with completion of court ordered PEP programs.

An Office of the Administration for Children and Families

OCSE is the federal government agency that oversees the national child support program.

OCSE assists child support agencies in states and tribes develop, manage, and operate their programs according to federal law using effective child support enforcement tools.

OCSE does not provide services directly to families. OCSE partners with state, tribal and local child support agencies and others to encourage parental responsibility so that children receive financial, emotional, and medical support from both parents, even when they live in separate households.
